More than a quarter of PPE kits from China come back in India
As of April 5, nearly 1.70 lakh PPE kits had been supplied to China from India, of which 50,000 kits failed in the quality test. “Two small consignments of 30,000 and 10,000 PPE kits failed to pass the test as well,” the source said. These devices were investigated at the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) laboratory in Gwalior.

Sources said that to meet the shortage of kits, an additional 10 lakh suits have been ordered through traders. These traders also include a Singaporean company. However, all these suits are to be sourced from China.
Expected to get new suits from April 18
The government is expecting a delivery from April 18. Sources said, ‘We should have these suits by the first week of May. Meanwhile, more orders will be placed. The internal assessment of the government says that if India had 20 lakh suites at this time, it would be in a much better position than it is now. Officials say there is no need to worry. A senior official said, “The number of orders is increasing. Most orders come from China. In this case, until now we were completely dependent on imports and we never thought that demand would increase.
