Delhi Election 2020: Know who won the crown in Delhi since 1993, till now

Delhi assembly elections have started. Under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party has once again engaged in every possible effort to return to power. At the same time, the BJP is trying to end its two decades of power exile, then the Congress is dreaming of returning once again with the help of 15 years of development.

Six assembly elections have been held in Delhi since 1993. Of these, the BJP once, the Congress three times and the Aam Aadmi Party twice, have managed to sit on power.

Assembly elections were held for the first time in Delhi in 1993. Earlier Delhi used to be a union territory like Chandigarh, where there was no assembly. BJP won the first election in Delhi. The BJP managed to win 49 seats out of the total 70 assembly seats in Delhi with 47.82 percent votes. The Congress got 14 seats with 34.48 percent votes. Apart from this, 4 seats went to the account of Janata Dal and three seats to independents.

Madanlal Khurana got the credit for giving BJP a big victory. Madanlal Khurana became the Chief Minister but on 26 February 1996, he had to step down from his post and the party handed over the reins of power to Saheb Singh Verma in his place. However, Saheb Singh Verma was removed by the BJP just before the election and on 12 October 1998, Sushma Swaraj was made the CM. Under the leadership of Sushma Swaraj, the BJP entered the Delhi Assembly elections in 1998, but the party could not return to power.

The second assembly elections were held in Delhi in 1998. Sushma Swaraj was the face of BJP and Sheila Dixit from Congress. The election of Delhi was conducted in this way between two women and in this battle, Sheila Dixit fell heavily on the BJP’s Sushma Swaraj. In 1998, out of the total 70 assembly seats in Delhi, the Congress managed to win 52 seats with 47.76 percent votes. At the same time, BJP got 15 seats with 34.02 percent votes. Apart from this, three seats were received by others.

Congress again in 2003cm seela dikshit-sheila dikshit

Assembly elections were held in Delhi for the third time in 2003. The BJP played against Madan Lal Khurana against Sheila Dikshit, in the 2003 assembly elections, out of the total 70 assembly seats in Delhi, the Congress managed to win 47 seats with 48.13 percent votes and the BJP could win 20 seats with 35.22 percent votes.

Apart from this, three seats were received by others. This time too, Sheila Dikshit got the credit for the victory of the Congress and she again managed to become the Chief Minister.

Assembly elections were held in Delhi for the fourth time in 2008. In this election too, Sheila Dikshit stood heavily on everyone.BJP played Vijay Kumar Malhotra against Sheila Dikshit but they too failed. In the 2008 assembly elections, out of the total 70 assembly seats in Delhi, the Congress managed to win 43 seats with 40.31 percent votes. The BJP had to be satisfied with 23 seats with 36.34 percent votes and others got three seats. In this way, Sheila Dikshit managed to become the hat-trick of victory in Delhi and become the Chief Minister.

No one got the majority in 2013Bjp,aap, election 2020,delhi elections

Assembly elections were held in Delhi for the fifth time in 2013. Apart from BJP and Congress, Aam Aadmi Party emerged as the third political party in this election. Arvind Kejriwal, who came out of the Anna movement, spoiled the political equation of the Congress. In the 2013 assembly elections, out of the total 70 assembly seats in Delhi, BJP managed to win 31 seats with 33 percent votes.

At the same time, the Aam Aadmi Party, led by Arvind Kejriwal, won 28 seats with 29.5 percent votes and the Congress got just 8 seats with 24.6 percent votes. In this way, no one got the majority in Delhi. In such a situation, the Congress supported the Aam Aadmi Party from outside and Arvind Kejriwal managed to become the Chief Minister. However, Kejriwal resigned from the post of CM just before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections after being CM for 49 days.

AAP’s emphatic win in 2015Bjp,aap, election 2020,delhi elections

Assembly elections were held in Delhi for the sixth time in 2015. Kejriwal prevailed over both BJP and Congress in this election. Out of 70 assembly seats in Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party got 67 seats, then BJP could get only three seats. At the same time, Congress could not even open an account in Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal became the Chief Minister after the victory in Delhi.
