MSME Minister of State Pratap Chandra Sarangi also distributed 700 bee boxes among 70 migrant workers in Saharanpur and Bulandshahar districts of Uttar Pradesh through which they would be able to start their own business by keeping bees.

Bee boxes were distributed to 40 migrant workers of Saharanpur and 30 migrant workers of Bulandshahr on behalf of the Minister of State for MSME. All of them returned to their homes from states like Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat during the lockdown and were facing an economic crisis due to no work. KVIC has identified these workers since the Prime Minister’s call for “Self-reliant India”, providing them 5 days training for beekeeping and the necessary tool kits and bees to start beekeeping activities. Boxes were given. There is a suitable environment for beekeeping in western Uttar Pradesh, there are many types of crops and tree plants from which the city can be produced in this area.

KVIC started Honey Mission 3 years ago which aims to generate employment opportunities by promoting farmers, tribals, women, and unemployed youth in beekeeping and to promote honey production in India. So far, KVIC has distributed more than 1.35 lakh beekeeping boxes in states like Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Tripura. Due to this, 13,500 people have benefited across the country while around 8,500 metric tonnes of honey have been produced.
