It is claimed that this scheme will not only curb corruption, but the poor going from one place to another will not be denied subsidized ration.

Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan said that in June this year, ‘One Nation, One ration card’ will be implemented nationwide.
He informed that the beneficiaries of the Public Distribution System (PDS) have started getting the benefit of this scheme from January 1 in 12 states of the country.

Giving this information through a tweet, Paswan said that from January 1, 2020, a total of 12 states of the country-
‘One Nation One RationCard’ facility has started in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Jharkhand, and Tripura.
He said that the PDS (Public Distribution System) beneficiaries of these states can now get their share ration only from their existing ration card while residing in any of these states. By June 2020, all the states of the country will be connected to it.

The ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ is an ambitious scheme of the Central Government under which beneficiaries of PDS across the country will get their share ration from ration shops operated under the public distribution system anywhere. Under this scheme, beneficiaries of PDS are identified on their Aadhaar card with an electronic point of sale device in which details related to the beneficiaries are fed.
