It would not be wrong to call it an action-packed week. This week, viewers are getting a chance to watch two big-budget action films. The action movie ‘War’, with a budget of nearly two hundred crores, has also been released along with ‘Sai Ra Narasimha Reddy’ of about 250 crores. When there are two handsome muscle men like Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff in the same frame, expectations are bound to skyrocket with action.
There is no doubt that Hrithik and Tiger have given their best so far in terms of action. Yes, if the story was strong, it would have been able to compete with any Hollywood film.
The story is of Secret Soldier Kabir (Hrithik Roshan), who considers the country more than his life. Khalid (Tiger Shroff) wants to set an example of patriotism by taking Kabir’s under-training to wash off the sin of his father’s betrayal from his head. In this initiative, his Chief (Ashutosh Rana) and his Ammi (Soni Razdan) give him courage. Kabir joins him in one of his secret missions, where he has to capture the country’s enemy Ilyasi alive. After the betrayal of a soldier of his own team, Kabir’s mission fails and Kabir then weaves another trap to catch Ilyasi.
He joins the dancer Naina (Vani Kapoor) in his mission by making him a civilian asset, but then something happens that Kabir starts slaughtering the officers of his country. Kabir’s actions, which were heroes for the Army till yesterday, make him a villain. Why did Kabir suddenly become an enemy of the country after sacrificing his life on the country? Khalid is appointed to locate it. When Khalid investigates Kabir, there are many secrets that no one could have imagined.
Director Rich Siddharth Anand’s film is as rich in action, I wish it was as rich in content. In the film, Siddarth has neglected the story and other characters by giving equal space to Hrithik and Tiger in the run-up to their muscle and action performance. Yes, he has kept many turns and twists in the second half, which speeds up the story, but he has not been able to serve anything new. The centerpiece of the story is Islamic terrorism, which we have seen in patriotic films before. High octane stunts and unseen locales around the world such as Kerala, Molta, Morocco, Australia, Arctic Circle are the plus points of the film.
Its action, swag and style are reminiscent of action-oriented films like ‘Fast and Furious’. The action of the film is wonderfully designed by Si Young O, Parvez Sheikh, Franz, and Paul Jennings. Dance, action, panoramic locales, and car chase scenes are worth visiting.
Sanchit and Ankit Balhara’s background music thrills faster. In the music of Vishal-Shekhar, the song Ghungroo is very much liked. It is at number three in Radio Mirchi’s Top Twenty.
There is no doubt that seeing Hrithik and Tiger in the same frame is an action and dance juggling no less than a visual treat. The chemistry of both of them is very well done on screen. Both have proved to be terrifying in their roles. Vaani Kapoor’s role is very small in the film and it is clear that his presence is essential to add glamor to the story. Ashutosh Rana has done a good job as always. Priyanka Goenka is remembered as a female secret agent. Child artiste Dishaita Sehgal has given a memorable performance. She acts as a relief in the film.
